The visit is self-guided for individuals and depends on the level of interest of each visitor, however an average visit takes between 1-1.5 hours.
Commentary can also be provided and using this format, the visit takes approximately 1.5 hours. Should visitors require audio commentary, you can scan a QR code on arrival with your phone camera to access our free audio-guide or rent an audio-guide headset for €2.00. The audio guides are available in English, Irish, German, French, Italian, and Spanish.
The museum also offers public guided tours throughout the week and these tours take approximately 1 – 1 ¼ hours in duration and patrons are welcome to explore the museum experience after the tour – visit here for further information.
GPO Museum is located on O’ Connell Street, in the heart of Dublin city centre. It is served by all major public transport links – Dublin Bus, Luas Red and Green Lines, and it is within walking distance of Connolly and Tara Street Train Stations. All of the sightseeing bus tours stop on O’Connell Street.
There are numerous public car parks in the immediate vicinity. Best Car Parks Arnotts is the nearest car park and they offer GPO Museum visitors a special day parking rate of €10.00 when a GPO Museum booking confirmation/receipt is presented on departure at the ticket office which is on level 1a. We recommend that visitors book tickets in advance on our website to ensure entry at their preferred date and time slot. When booking in advance, you will ensure that you get the best rate and make savings of between €2.00 and €5.00 on most tickets. Visitors can also purchase tickets on arrival from our ticket desk.
If the museum reaches capacity, first preference will be given to those that book online on our website and approved third party resellers. Online tickets can be purchased here.

There is no need to print your booking confirmation email, visitors can show the confirmation email on their mobile device in order to gain entry.
For group bookings of ten people and over, please contact our reservations office to avail of special group rates. A guided tour option is also available and this must be pre-booked in advance by contacting the reservations office.
Carers are admitted free of charge to GPO Museum when accompanying a visitor with a disability. An adult with a disability costs €8.00 per person and a child (under 18 years of age) with a disability costs €6.00 per person.

With our standard cancellation policy, ticket purchases are non- refundable. If you feel that you are entitled to a refund, please contact us via email info@gpomuseum.ie a minimum of 24 hours in advance of your booking with us. Please give your name, booking reference and your reason for cancelling and why it is justified.
Please feel free to take as many photos as you wish! Photography is allowed for private, non-commercial use unless otherwise stated. Bear in mind, however, that we do have some very valuable artefacts that are sensitive to harsh light, so please turn the flash on your camera/phone off.
Yes, there is a baby changing room onsite.
There are no storage facilities available at GPO Museum so please limit the items that you bring with you.
Our café is currently closed however there are a variety of restaurants and cafés in the local area.
