The 24th of May marks the anniversary of the end of the Irish Civil War, a brutal conflict that left a lasting legacy on Irish society.
Join us at the GPO Museum for this special guided tour to commemorate this devastating conflict that can be painful to remember, but whose impact on Ireland and those involved should not be forgotten.
Your guide will bring you through the social, political and economic roots of this conflict and how it developed out from the years of The Easter Rising and War of Independence. Discover the events and drawing of political lines that tore families, friends and former close allies apart. Explore how people found themselves suddenly on opposing sides of a battle over what Irish freedom and independence meant to them and should be in practice.
Booking is essential as availability is limited. This specially researched tour will last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Patrons are welcome to enjoy the museum and cafe at their own leisure after the tour. There are over 100 artefacts, interactive touchscreens and an immersive film experience explore!
