Children of the Revolution tour (800 x 600 px)

“It’s easy to die for Ireland. What Ireland needs is people to live honestly for Ireland,”
– Helena Healy – mother of Sean ‘Jack’ Healy, Fianna member.

Join us this Easter at GPO Museum as we remember the children and families who were effected by Ireland’s revolutionary period in the early 1900’s.

On this specially created tour you will discover the stories of the children and teenagers who took an active part in Ireland’s fight for independence. You will uncover the devastation caused to families who lost children in the crossfire in battles across Dublin and Ireland. This tour brings the memories of these sometimes forgotten young people back to life and explores the society and culture that brought them so close to the action and events of the time. Learn about the men and women who trained them, the families left behind and those who grew up in a swiftly changing Ireland. Journey with us through the Dublin they ruled, hear their stories, and understand the importance of commemorating these young lives.

Booking is essential, as availability is limited. This specially researched tour will last approximately 1 hour and patrons are welcome to enjoy the museum at their own leisure after the tour. There are plenty of artefacts, interactive screens, and an immersive film to explore!

Please note that this tour may not be suitable for children under the age of 10.
